How To Stretch Your Natural Hair WITHOUT Heat

Hey kinks and coils 💜

Happy New Month 😊

Shrinkage is probably the bane of most naturals however it can tell us whether our hair is healthy or not. Hair shrinkage is when our hair gradually loses its normal length when it is wet. Hair shrinkage is a huge part in the natural hair journey so it's essential you know what to do to do in managing your coils and kinks in their shrunken state. There are various methods you can use to stretch your natural hair WITHOUT heat.

TWISTS AND BRAIDS

After your wash routine in the shower put your hair in big braids or twist. When your hair is dry unravel the braids or twists and your hair will be stretched.

CURLFORMERS

Use curlformers on wet hair. When your hair is dry carefully remove the curlformers and not only will your hair be streched but your curls will be popping.

BANTU KNOT OUTS

If you want your hair to be streched and curly but don't have curlformers / rods you can do a Bantu knot out. Divide your hair into small sections and twist each section of hair and wrap it around itself to form a knot and secure it with a bobby pin. When your hair is dry unravel the Bantu knot and your curls will be popping.

AFRICAN THREADING

You will need some shea butter (whipped) and a cotton thread. Divide your hair in sections . Apply your whipped shea butter from roots to ends and then use the thread to wrap your hair from roots to ends. Make sure the tension to the scalp isn't too much so as to reduce hair loss and breakage.

I recommend that you use these methods on moisturised hair.
