The Joys Of Having Locs




I was loc'd for 5 years and this is just me going back to the past a little and enjoying things I don't enjoy now with loose natural hair.

I used to hate wash day. I still do , but with locs I'd be in and out. No DC , no detangling , no pre poo ( I didn't think they were necessary). The only mission on wash day when I had locs was to make sure that I use a good amount of shampoo and concentrate it on my scalp and massage it all over my scalp.

Ahh that was the life.

And can we talk about products? Yeah the only thing I needed when I was loc'd was a good shampoo and a good oil and that was it! When I detangled my locs I came across a lot of products that I wasn't even aware of.

I loove cold and rainy weather . I could walk straight into the rain and my hair would still be the same length and I didn't have to worry that I'd end up with tangles and so on  however , when that lint got stuck into my locs it was torture trying to get it out.

Now we get into the deep stuff.

Discrimination . Yeah texture discrimination . When I had locs I wasn't even aware that there is something called "texture discrimination". The only envy we had as loc rockers was the length. Not all this volume , texture discrimination blah blah .

Now what I don't miss with locs is the misconceptions and people having their own ignorant opinions and presenting them as facts. And I think the most popular misconception is that locs aren't versatile.  Bruuuh if only you knew.

Will I lock my hair again ? Heck yeah. But not anytime soon I still want to experiment with my loose natural hair.

The Urge To Color My Natural Hair...

If you have been following me for a while then you probably know that my hair has been through a lot. I have had a terrible dye job and there was   too much damage so I had to cut my hair and go back to a TWA, my hair grew back eventually and I had to cut it back into a TWA again because I still had the rough, damaged and porous ends. How I Trim My Natural Hair

If you follow me on  Instagram then you have probably seen that I have been rocking a mini puff and I'm excited that my hair is growing like a weed but I have to pull myself back and remind myself that I need a trim. As much as I love my current length I also have to trim my hair because a delayed trim can make me go back to a TWA in a matter of minutes because I would have to cut the damage that traveled all the way up my strands and so to avoid that I need to trim. Oh by the way, my hair is in the awkward stage and I have been incorporating a couple of protective styles. There are a few ways to trim your natural hair. I used two methods that are quite popular. I make sure to detangle small sections and I used : Spritz bottle Leave in conditioner Detangle brush Pik .. Hello?

I hope there are still people outchea because I have been M. I. A but I promise that I have a good excuse : I'm in university now! 2017 was my gap year and that is why I could keep up with my weekly uploads but now that everything has been switched up and a lot has happened in a short space of time like emotional, financial, mental, physical stress and a little bit of drama 🙄. I had to take a digital cleanse and concentrate on some other things because they required most of my time and attention. I had to move to the North West and I had to adapt to the location, language, weather and a new schedule and I literally had no time to do anything besides study and do all my chores.  One thing that has drastically changed is the way I handle my finances. Update : My Health And Confidence Journey + Going Vegan

Happy new year beautiful people , I know I'm late but I hope it still counts. A few days ago I made my way to the gym and I just felt strange , like I was lacking something  , I'm pretty sure you know that feeling , it's that feeling when it feels like you the only person noticing the change and everyone doesn't see anything and you go around asking people "do you see it though" , that is exactly how I felt a couple of days ago. I made my way to the gym and after my workout I took a warm steamy shower and I felt uneasy when I saw my shadow. I looked a bit closer and questioned myself like : " could it be ? " and I looked a bit closer and I finally found why I felt peculiar that day .
