Thoughts : Texture Discrimination In The Natural Hair Community
Oh my. This has to be the worst. I feel that as naturalistas we can never find inner peace. We are discriminated in our workplaces , in schools and then when we think we finally get a break from all that discrimination and try to cool off in the natural hair community we are discriminated , AGAIN! Can we get a break ? We get this image of these ladies and gents with loose curls or waves as if the natural hair only consists of one hair type/texture. That is why it is called a "community" it consists of all types of different hair textures , thick , thin and etc. So showing a particular texture of hair and promoting it , what does it say about some of us with tightly coiled natural hair ? Are we are not part of this community because of what reason ? Is our hair is just not worth all the glory or the celebration?
